Music the Spice of Life?

As music is said by some long gone gentleman to be the spice of life; we the living continue to indulge ourselves in its embrace.
We go to war, a war song is sung to strengthen even the ones whose knees suddenly develop a mysterious weakness when facing an advancing enemy. They are called the weakkneed. We engage in marriage, we sing songs of joyous celebration. We bury our dead, we sing mournful songs. Somebody, give me an occasion where there is no need for song please.
I thought I heard someone say, when we are in pain we do not sing but cry. Well, I thought that crying was another form of singing, isn't it so?
